Never Give Up

I spent the weekend visiting this little guy and got in alot of grandmotherly loving and cuddling! He is almost a month old now and is so much more alert. I even got some real smiles while I was there.

When I returned Monday night, my "complimentary" copy of the current Stampington Catch Up Issue magazine was in my mail.  What??  I thought it was a mistake so proceeded to look through the issue page by page.  I haven't bought this for awhile and it was fun browsing the pages.

Imagine my surprise when my name popped out at me on Page 91! There at the top left was a card I made ages ago.  It even lists my address as Keller and we haven't lived there for six years!  I have only submitted cards once for publication - about 6 or 7 years ago I sent 3 cards for the Take Ten magazine. Several months later one card was published in Stampers' Sampler and I soon forgot about the others.  And now this one...they have actually hung onto this card for at least 6 years!! I truly can't believe it, but I'm not complaining. It's always fun to see your work published.

Here's a closer look at the card. As far as I remember I had used a resist technique, stamping the floral collage stamp with clear embossing powder and then applying color (watercolors?) over the image.  The clear powder resists the color and gives you a beautiful look with very little effort.  I do remember that I intended this card to be vertical, but they have photographed it horizontal.

So, I guess the moral of my story is to never give up!  Send in your work to be published and you never know when they will actually use it!  It was a fun surprise - and I always enjoy getting free magazines!

More New LBH Classes

We've got baby fever at The Little Blue House!  Many of our customers are having babies or grandbabies this spring and we are featuring several baby projects that can be taken in our buffet classes.

This is a little keepsake baby book I created which is a modified paper bag album. There is one in pink for girls and one in blue for boys. The unique binding is fashioned with only ribbon.  The many pockets and fold-outs will hold lots of cute baby photos and would make a great gift!

Check our blog or come into the House to sign up!

New Classes at LBH

I've designed some new projects for classes at The Little Blue House.  Of course, they are baby-related, in honor of my new grandson!

Here's a two-page layout.  It is also available in pink for a little girl.  I love this new paper line from Bella Blvd (Baby Boy and Baby Girl) with the cute little monkeys and other animals. It's perfect to use for any babies or young children.

Check out the LBH blog for more information on signing up for class. Hope to see you there!

Art Group

This is what my desk looks like tonight! I've had a great evening playing with the new Dylusions Spray Inks and Stencils from Ranger's Signature Designer, Dyan Reaveley, and Viva Decor Modeling Paste and Embossing Creams. Tomorrow and Friday we will be playing with all these products in the Little Blue House Art Group sessions.  Call the LBH to reserve a seat to join us and you can get messy and have some fun too!

These are addictive! I love that there are no "rules" - and you get what you get! It's fun playing with different combinations of colors and stencil designs and layering, layering, layering.

(Edited: It's after midnight so when I say tomorrow, I mean Thursday even though it's really already Thursday!)

7 Gypsies Goodies

Last week I received my loot from 7 Gypsies that I won on their recent blog giveaway.  Look at all the goodies they packed into this box! I love that they used sewing pattern tissue paper to wrap the contents. Just love it all. Now I need to find the perfect project to incorporate these treasures!

Catching Up

Has it really only been a week since our little one was born?  Time flies when you're having fun. It was truly a joyful, wonderful week and we feel so blessed.  And the joy continues as we expect another grandson in three months!

Other great things have been happening as well. Two weeks ago I won a giveaway on Lorraine Stobie's blog, Creative Daily.  This is the lovely art quilt I received early this week.

It measures about 7" x 8" and has gorgeous colors and textures.  I also received this beautiful stitched fabric postcard.  I think it's felted fibers and just sparkles.

Even the envelope was handmade - painted, stamped and stitched. Awesome!

I also found out on the very day of little Carl's birth that I had won a giveaway on the 7 Gypsies blog. I adore everything they make so I am sure to not be disappointed when this prize arrives! Can't wait!

Now back to reality. I'm working on some invitations and decorations for my other daughter's baby shower, helping my son with some prototypes for an entrepreneurial project he is undertaking and designing some new classes for The Little Blue House. It's also almost time to start designing for the next  Front Porch Kit!  And I must find time to get back to Austin soon to visit the baby!
