Halloween "Row House" Swap

Recently I participated in a Halloween swap and just received my last one in the mail. We were supposed to send out three and receive three back.

These are the three I created and sent. They are almost identical. It's hard to see in the photo but there are little black fences on either side of the doors, a little black cat in front, and scary things in the windows!

And these are the ones I received - love them! I haven't yet decided how to display them. Maybe string them into a banner or prop in a tablescape.  Right now I just wish it would get cooler and feel more like fall/Halloween!

Documented Life Planner - Week 25

June Theme - Travel Journaling

June 20 - Week 25

Art Challenge: Hometown Inspiration
Journal Prompt: There is no Place Like Home

The inspiration for this week was "hometown." I couldn't decide what to choose, so I used houses to represent the five major places I've lived.  I had just been creating with products from the Authentique paper collection "Playful" for my LBH Media Team assignment this month, so I used the leftovers to create the page.

The background was painted with a mixture of Dina Wakley heavy-bodied acrylic paints and Dyan Reaveley's new acrylic paints for journals. I first gessoed the pages and then blended the paints with a baby wipe. This creates a nice soft look. I also stamped some texture with paint and Archival inks. The words were computer-generated and I did some doodling with a permanent black pen.

While browsing through Hobby Lobby last week, I came across a framed quote which was perfect for my page title: "Wherever we are together, that is home."

The Patriotic House Canvas Class is back!

Due to popular demand, I will be teaching the popular Patriotic House Canvas class at The Little Blue House again this summer. If you have created some of the other season's houses and need this to compete your set, be sure to check this out!

It will be offered during select Buffet class times. Check out the complete details on the LBH website online here.  You can also call the LBH at 817-431-7930 to sign up.

I hope you will join me in class!

Patriotic Projects

It's been such a busy June and July that I forgot to post some of my patriotic projects created for classes (there are still kits available even though it's past July 4 - we still have labor day coming up!).

This is a red, white and blue layout. The "license" tag on the sample layout says July 4, which is included in the kit, but I also added another one that is not specific to the 4th so it could be substituted.  These photos are of my grandson, Carl, from last year. I loved them and just had to create a layout to showcase them!

And here's another house mixed media canvas.  I've done a Halloween, Christmas, Spring and now a Summer house to complete the series.

This one is fun. Notice the geraniums in the flower boxes and the cute bunting on the picket fences.

"Spring is in the Air" Mixed Media Canvas Class

Here's the latest mixed media canvas in my "house series." It all started back in October with the Haunted House (see it here) and then came the Home for the Holidays house in December (see it here).  This is the spring version and I will complete the series this summer with a summertime version.  My favorite part of this is the cute little clothes on the line! (Who remembers hanging out the laundry?)

This class is now available for signups at The Little Blue House in Keller. Check out the blog here or stop by at 118W. Olive St. in Old Town Keller or call 431-7930 to reserve your spot in class. These are fun classes which will get you "out of the box" and creating spontaneously.
