More "12 Days of Christmas"

These are the little gifts I've received so far for the "12 Days of Christmas" swap.

Day 2 - a lovely, very intricate die cut angel ornament

Day 3 - a hand-stitched wool felt "mug rug"

Day 4 - a wonderful wooden Christmas sign

Day 5 - a cleverly wrapped set of chocolate treats

Day 6 - a darling double-sided metal house-shaped ornament

and Day 7 - a pretty ornament of layered burlap, lace, paper doily and paper image

Each project is so different from the others. I love that 12 people can participate and there are no duplicate ideas!  There are still five more to go!

Remaining gifts of "12 Days of Christmas" Swap

These are the last four gifts I received in the online "12 Days of Christmas" swap.

On the left is a gorgeous etched glass ornament; on the right is another ornament - a jeweled bauble.

This is a handmade box that opens like a book to reveal six handmade cards nestled inside.
So unique!

This shows the inside "top" that covers the cards. You can also see one of the cards. These will come in handy this year for birthdays and other occasions.

This is a darling necklace made with a wine cork! This, too, is very unique!

And a sweet little "JOY" banner. Each triangle is only 3.5" tall. So cute!

I was assigned Day 10 and I made a mixed media ornament. I used gel medium to cover the clear plastic ornament with torn book text papers. Then I painted, stamped and collaged on bits of green patterned papers. I stamped "joy" on tissue paper and then glued it in place, doodled around the tree and tied a bow and hanger with baker's twine.

Here are all twelve before I sent them off.

I couldn't find suitable boxes for them so I made pillow boxes with heavy yardstick and sent them in padded envelopes.

I hope everyone enjoyed them! I love this annual swap as it's such a fun way to start off the Christmas season.

"12 Days of Christmas Gifts" Swap - Days 1 - 6

The online group I've a member of does an annual "12 Days of Christmas Gifts" Swap. We are placed in groups of 12 and assigned one day. We then make 12 gifts - one for each participant - and send them out. 12 days before Christmas we start opening our gifts - one per day. This is one of my favorite activities of the group and it's always amazing to see the creativity and thought that goes into these gifts.

I was the first day of my group and created a little art quilt hanging. I used a base of canvas cloth and layered music paper, ticking, laces, buttons, ruffled ribbon and a favorite vintage Christmas image. I dyed the seam binding ribbon hanger with Distress ink.

I love how they look all lined up before mailing!

And this is what I've received so far:

Day 2
from Julie
tiny canvas ornament

Day 3
from Alice

Day 4
from Joan
vintage Bingo card banner

Day 5
from Shellie

Day 6

Thanks to all these gals for the lovely gifts. Can't wait to open the next 6!
