I'm home from my retreat

I got home from my retreat on Sunday afternoon and will be leaving tomorrow for Austin to celebrate Mitchell's third birthday. Where did the time go? It seems like he was just born. He's such a little boy now and manages to keep up with his brother, Carl, who is 6.

I've been busy on two projects this week. First, I had to make this fleece blanket for his birthday. He loves minions so hope he will like this!

And, I made thirty invitations for my mother's 90th birthday party in June. This design ( a flip-fold card) was fun to make - the top section flips up (it is held in place with the candle on the circle), then the bottom front flips down to reveal the invitation information on the inside panel. I used an old patterned paper and a few colors of card stock that I had in my stash.

I will recap my retreat next week when I return from the birthday shenanigans.

Life Documented - January Week 4

We were in Albuquerque over this past weekend for our grandson, Grant's second birthday. It also was our daughter, Dana's birthday the day before, so it was a party weekend! My other daughter, Kelly, came from Austin with her two boys so it was great to have all the grands there together. Got back late last night and slept in today for much-needed rest!

Today I worked on finishing up my calendar for last week.  I used a printout for the days of the week and used the full spread instead of just one page since I knew there would be a lot happening to fill in.

Back from a long birthday weekend!

We spent Thursday thru Monday in Austin celebrating this little guy's first birthday - I can hardly believe that he is already one!  (Sorry, lots of photos!)

My five kids, their spouses/significant others and the four grand boys were all together for a fun, boisterous, crazy busy weekend. Loved every minute, but it will take a few days to recuperate!

Happy 4th Birthday Carl!

We spent this past weekend in Austin celebrating Carl's fourth birthday. Can't believe it's been that long since this little guy came into our lives and stole our hearts! 

He is into Star Wars big time, so that was the theme for his party. His mom made a fabulous R2D2 cake, Storm Trooper marshmallows on a stick, grapes-on-skewers Light Sabers and Ty Fighters made with two thin hexagonal Oreos with a mini marshmallow between. Most of the present stuck to the theme too - who knew there were so many Star Wars toys and games! He had a blast!

The kids had a ball with the Darth Vader piñata and the pool noodle light sabers.

His actual birthday is this Friday, the 25th. I made him this card which I'm sure he will love.

Catching up

The summer is flying by! 

We spent the weekend in Austin celebrating my oldest daughter's 40th birthday (yikes!). The family surprised her on Friday night - my son flew in from San Francisco; my youngest daughter and her boyfriend came from Chicago; another daughter, her husband and 2-yr old Drew came from Albuquerque and we drove down.  The ruse was that my husband and I were taking her to dinner but everyone (including two friends and their husbands) met her there. She had no idea anyone was in town and I think she was truly surprised.

On Saturday we surprised her again with a "Duck Tour." She has always dissed this and said she would never be caught dead doing it. She thought we were meeting for brunch and was not a happy camper when she found out the truth. But she was a good sport and, I think, had fun. The grand boys had a blast, especially with the "quackers" handed out.

The rest of the weekend was laid back, hanging out at Kelly's house and just enjoying being together.

It was a great weekend and, as always, fun to have the entire family together.

Happy Birthday Drew!

This little guy turns two today! How time flies - it seems like yesterday that we got the call that he was on his way and we jumped on a plane for Albuquerque, arriving shortly after he arrived. He is celebrating on an extended-family Caribbean cruise this week so hope he is having a ball getting spoiled by everyone!

 This is the card-in-a-box that I made him.  I had taught a class on how to make this kind of card "from scratch" but have since found a cut file in the Silhouette store (Design #56156) which makes it so much easier. I added a few things to "make it my own." I think he'll have fun opening and closing it.

I hope everyone had a safe and fun 4th of July. We just returned from spending the weekend in Austin with our other grandson and I'm trying to catch up...
