Altered Trading Coins

What can I say? Time flies... Since my last post, I've been to Chicago for several days and to Albuquerque for my grandson's fourth birthday and now we're getting ready to fly to Hong Kong to see our son on Wednesday. I haven't had much time to make art but have caught up on the boys' Christmas scrapbook pages.

I joined an online swap this month making Altered Trading Coins. These seem to be all the rage lately in the craft world. They are much like Artist Trading Cards (which are 2 1/2" wide by 3 1/2" tall), but these are 2 1/2" rounds. They can be created in a series or can be one of a kind. They are fun to make and make good use of bits and pieces left over from other projects.

For this swap, the theme was "love" and you had to send one coin to each of two people. These are the coins I created. They are mostly collaged images on a painty background. The first one has Tim Holtz word strips and the second has a stamped love quote. I edged both with Krylon paint pens in gold and silver. (Sorry these look distorted - not sure why but they really are perfect circles!)

The deadline for mail-out is the end of the month and I haven't yet received mine from my partners. I will post them once I receive them.

Happy New Year!

I returned home again late last night after a crazy Christmas-time holiday.  I've only been home one night since Dec. 20 and am more than ready to ring in the new year with more time spent at home!

Since I was gone, I didn't get a chance to open the remaining "12 Days of Christmas" swap gifts until today. As always, they were unique and wonderful.

Days 9 - 12

This is the magnet and 4"x4" puzzle card from Barbara (I mistakenly attributed the large clip on Day 8 on my previous post to her and it was actually made by Shellie)

A pocket-calendar folder from Joyce

A darling little matchbox filled with little Christmas trinkets from Cindy

And a microwave bowl cover from Pam

I love all my gifts - many have already been put in use - and I look forward to next year's swap!
