Ready for Halloween?

I am, at least for cooler fall temps - here in Texas it's still in the high 90's!  The Little Blue House released our Halloween class projects at last weekend's open house.  I thought I'd share some of the projects I created and you can check out the LBH link above to see more fabulous ones.

First, a double layout showcasing, yes, my adorable grandsons in their very first Halloween costumes.  My husband got these at Costco awhile ago and we tried them on and did a photo shoot when we were babysitting last weekend. I think they are just too cute, but I am biased! Carl is the chubby little pumpkin and Drew the sweet lion.

Here are Witch Hazel and Punkinhead, ready to add a bewitching and spooktacular look to your Halloween decorating.

Who can resist this cute face?

And a yummy little pumpkin treat holder and "bootiful" witch hat to display on pedestals (we do a class on those too) or wherever you choose.

Hope you'll join us in class and get in the fall mood/Halloween spirit!

Thanksgiving Minibook

About a month ago I got together with a few friends who wanted me to do a project with them - some kind of fall minibook. I made a sample using some paper bags, corrugated cardboard and some very old papers I had left over from my Recollections days almost 5 years ago! It felt good to put these to good use as I still think they are beautiful.

Our daughter and son-in-law just bought their first house in Austin and are planning to invite both sides of the family for Thanksgiving so I decided to make this a memento of their first holiday in their new house. It has lots of room for photos and journaling.

The cover - corrugated cardboard, papers, ribbon, paper rosette and diecut paper leaves

Pages 3, 5, 7 and 9 are made with the bags and the unique construction allows for two pockets for tags

I love how the book turned out. It was fun to work on a personal project for a change and be able to use some of my hoarded supplies! I hope Kelly will like it and enjoy the memories it will hold for years to come.

Once a Week

That seems to be my blogging pattern lately. I'd really like to blog more often but life seems to have a way of interfering! What with teaching, designing for the new classesr and visiting my grands, there just never seems to be enough time. I promise to try harder!

Speaking of grands, we spent last weekend in Albuquerque with both. My daughter from Austin flew in for a wedding and we babysat Carl overnight. Since we were there, my other daughter and her husband celebrated their third anniversary with a dinner date and we were able to babysit Drew as well!   Just love being able to spend time with these little ones.

Chubby cheeks and double chins run in our family!

Drew is now 2 months old and starting to smile, coo and really interact. He's a very happy and mellow baby.

Carl is 5 1/2 months now and is sitting up. It was a big weekend for him - he started to roll over from his back to his tummy and his first tooth surfaced! He's so happy and always smiling.

Despite the age difference, Drew is only one inch shorter. He's long and lanky; Carl is short and adorably chubby. We lovingly call them "Little Bean" and "Chubby Monkey."

The first of many playtimes together sharing toys.

A New Date - Open House

It's that time of year when the temps start to drop, school is back in session and thoughts turn to fall holidays.  We are busy designing lots of fun projects for Halloween and have decided to bump up the date for open house because we just can't stand keeping all the excitement to ourselves!

Come join us at the Little "Boo" House this Friday or Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm to check out the Halloween class projects, lots of new products in the store, prize drawings, refreshments and a free make-n-take!

A Patriotic Canvas

I've been MIA for a week, but for a very good reason. My daughter and her husband moved into their first house and we went to help them. Of course, it was just a good reason to visit with little Carl! He is five months now, sitting up by himself and just a charmer. He's such a good-natured, happy baby and we are so delighted and blessed to be able to see him often!

Due to this little distraction, I haven't been creating much lately so I thought I'd share a recent class project at the LBH which I forgot to post. It's a patriotic star canvas using lots of papers, paints and stamps. I love this painterly background effect.

It's design time for the Halloween and Fall projects we will be featuring soon at the LBH, so I hope my creative juices start flowing soon!
