I spent the weekend visiting this little guy and got in alot of grandmotherly loving and cuddling! He is almost a month old now and is so much more alert. I even got some real smiles while I was there.
When I returned Monday night, my "complimentary" copy of the current Stampington Catch Up Issue magazine was in my mail. What?? I thought it was a mistake so proceeded to look through the issue page by page. I haven't bought this for awhile and it was fun browsing the pages.
Imagine my surprise when my name popped out at me on Page 91! There at the top left was a card I made ages ago. It even lists my address as Keller and we haven't lived there for six years! I have only submitted cards once for publication - about 6 or 7 years ago I sent 3 cards for the Take Ten magazine. Several months later one card was published in Stampers' Sampler and I soon forgot about the others. And now this one...they have actually hung onto this card for at least 6 years!! I truly can't believe it, but I'm not complaining. It's always fun to see your work published.
Here's a closer look at the card. As far as I remember I had used a resist technique, stamping the floral collage stamp with clear embossing powder and then applying color (watercolors?) over the image. The clear powder resists the color and gives you a beautiful look with very little effort. I do remember that I intended this card to be vertical, but they have photographed it horizontal.
So, I guess the moral of my story is to never give up! Send in your work to be published and you never know when they will actually use it! It was a fun surprise - and I always enjoy getting free magazines!
