Altered Trading Coins

We just returned from the weekend in Austin celebrating our oldest grandson's 7th birthday! How in the world did that happen so fast?  He had a fun "Minecraft" themed party. His mom goes all out, making the decor herself, and even the refreshments were Minecraft-themed.  At the moment Carl says he doesn't like cake, so she made a three-layer ice cream cake frosted with Cool Whip. It was delicious!

I am behind in posting the Altered Trading Coins from my monthly swap.

February's theme was "umbrella."  These are the two coins I received.

Front - from Linda

Back - from Linda

Front - from Roxie

Back- from Roxie - she opened a real drink umbrella and adhered it to the coin

The theme for March was "Easter."  These are the two coins I made for my partners.

And the two I received.

Easter cards

We're back from the weekend in Austin celebrating our oldest grandson's 6th birthday. Wow, he grew up fast! He had a very fun party at Chuck E Cheese with 18 of his friends from kindergarten, preschool and the neighborhood. I don't think I've been in a CEC for 25+ years and was surprised they were still around! Needless to say, it was bedlam but he was over the moon!

Inside the ticket blaster - he caught well over 1000 tickets!

After resting from the chaos, I spent some time yesterday making some Easter cards for the grand boys and one of their friends (who seems to have adopted us).  Found a similar card on Pinterest of course and used a stamp/die set from Reverse Confetti from a few years ago for the peeps and sentiment.  It's impossible to see in the photo, but I used a perforating wheel from my sewing days to add detail to the wavy edges of the paper layers. Gotta get these in the mail soon!

New Scrapbook Layout for LBH

Are you ready for spring? Easter is early this year and we're getting ready for it at The Little Blue House!

This is a double Easter layout I recently created for class and is also available as a kit. Click on the link above to purchase through the website or call or visit the store (817-431-7930) to schedule a class.

I love the colors and patterns of this new "Springtime" paper collection from Authentique.

Happy Easter - belated

I hope everyone had a blessed and happy Easter. We went to Albuquerque to spend the weekend with grand boys Drew and Grant. It was a fun and "egg-cellent" time. Drew was really into the coloring eggs/decorating cookies/egg hunts this year. And I got my cuddle time with little Grant who is filling out nicely and is almost 9 pounds!

Easter Carrots

It's been over a week since I last posted!  I've been in the "throes" of designing for the LBH and when that happens, everything else goes by the wayside. However I am finished for the time being and have a few days off with no LBH designing, teaching or prepping on the schedule. So I've been catching up on some personal things.

Easter is coming soon and I needed to get the grand boys' baskets in the mail. Since the boys are just getting into Playdoh, I cooked up some (which I used to make for my own kids years ago) and colored it orange. If you make it yourself, you know it's nontoxic in case they try to eat it.  I placed it into two disposable pastry bags, closed them tightly and wrapped a piece of green card stock around the top which I cut with shredding scissors.  They looked pretty cute inside the baskets along with a little bunny and some other goodies, but I forgot to take pictures before sending them off.

There are probably DIY Playdoh recipes online, but this is the "ancient" one I used.

Mix together in a saucepan: 1 c. flour, 1/2 c. salt, 1 c. water, 1 tsp. cream of tartar, 1 Tbsp. cooking oil and food coloring if desired. (The recipe calls for clove scent, but I've never used it.)
Cook over low heat stirring constantly until it thickens and pulls together away from the sides of the pan.
Remove from pan and knead until smooth.
Store in airtight container.

Happy Easter

May you all have a very happy and blessed Easter!
And eat chocolate!
