Easter cards

We're back from the weekend in Austin celebrating our oldest grandson's 6th birthday. Wow, he grew up fast! He had a very fun party at Chuck E Cheese with 18 of his friends from kindergarten, preschool and the neighborhood. I don't think I've been in a CEC for 25+ years and was surprised they were still around! Needless to say, it was bedlam but he was over the moon!

Inside the ticket blaster - he caught well over 1000 tickets!

After resting from the chaos, I spent some time yesterday making some Easter cards for the grand boys and one of their friends (who seems to have adopted us).  Found a similar card on Pinterest of course and used a stamp/die set from Reverse Confetti from a few years ago for the peeps and sentiment.  It's impossible to see in the photo, but I used a perforating wheel from my sewing days to add detail to the wavy edges of the paper layers. Gotta get these in the mail soon!

Scrapbooking

Scrapping is what I've been up to this week. Trying to keep up with four albums for the grand boys!

Here are a few layouts I've done. I'm also trying to use up stash and not buy more paper!

Two similar camping layouts for Drew and Grant
Two first day of kindergarten layouts for Carl and Drew

Two layouts of the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta for Drew and Grant

Single page layout for Halloween costumes and trick-or-treating (also did three others for the other boys)

Single page layout for Carl loosing his first tooth Thanksgiving week

This brings me pretty much up-to-date but there will be many holiday layouts soon to come! For someone who never scrapped for my own children, I'm making up for it now!

Life Documented - January Week 4

We were in Albuquerque over this past weekend for our grandson, Grant's second birthday. It also was our daughter, Dana's birthday the day before, so it was a party weekend! My other daughter, Kelly, came from Austin with her two boys so it was great to have all the grands there together. Got back late last night and slept in today for much-needed rest!

Birthday boy (he's obsessed with trains)

Drew and Carl playing Pie in the Face
(note, no whipped cream but they still had fun)

The lollipop kids
(only way to keep them still long enough for a photo!)

Today I worked on finishing up my calendar for last week.  I used a printout for the days of the week and used the full spread instead of just one page since I knew there would be a lot happening to fill in.

I'm Back!

I've finally returned, at least for a few days! (Going to Albuquerque for the weekend to celebrate Drew's fourth birthday...)

I was in Vermont - my mom turned 88 on the 15th. She still lives alone and is going strong, having more energy most days than I do! We affectionately call her the energizer bunny.  My two brothers were there and we had a nice lobster dinner and strawberry shortcake (her tradition).

One reason I had gone was to attend my high school 50th reunion. Can't believe it's been that long! Class of 1966 had the largest class ever graduated from Stowe High at 30 students! Most of us had gone from kindergarten all the way through twelfth grade together. Sadly, seven have died, but we had a very nice turnout of about 20. We had a cocktail party at my best friend's house (she was 6 mos. old when I was born and we've known each other since) before all going to dinner together on Friday night. Saturday we had a meet-up at another local friend's house before the actual Alumni Banquet.

From there I flew directly back to Austin to babysit Carl and Mitchell for a week while Kelly and Josh were on a 7-day cruise.  They were so good, especially since they had never been away from their parents for that long. We had fun going to the movies and just playing together.  Mitchell is such a cute age right now (14 mos.) and Carl is just a hoot.

Other than the birthday party this weekend and an upcoming art retreat in mid-July, I'm hoping to be home for awhile and get back to creating!
